The remote lodge is a three hours drive from Mfuwe Airport and overlooks an oxbow lagoon which attracts a plethora of game. Wildlife viewing is exceptional here with elephants, leopard and lion regularly enjoying the nearby water. The South Luangwa is made up of woodlands, plains and numerous water sources including the Luangwa River. All Big Five apart from rhino roam the sprawling landscape with the addition of zebra, hippo, monkey and antelope.
Rooms
Ten raised chalets are stylishly decorated with bright fabrics and offer light and airy interiors. There are four-poster beds with Evening Breeze cooling units, private decks which overlook the plains and discreet en-suite bathrooms. Deluxe Suites offer more seclusion and space with the luxury addition of outdoor bathtubs.
Communal Areas
The intimate main lodge is accessed via wooden walkways and is decorated in neutral tones to emphasis its natural surroundings. With polished wooden floors, bright fabrics and a central fireplace, the space houses a comfy lounge, dining area with communal tables and a welcoming bar where scenic drinks can be enjoyed. Dine on the lodge’s deck, cool off in the swimming pool or spend an evening making use of the billiards room and library.
Activities
Take morning and afternoon game drives and walking safaris led by expert guides and a national park scout. Drives cover a vast amount of the landscape and provide opportunities to spot lion, leopard, elephant and buffalo. During the dry season, guests can also take photographic safaris with specialist guide and naturalist, Edward Selfe.
