Castello Di Monte is a Tuscan-style hotel on a hilltop overlooking the city of Pretoria. With landscaped gardens filled with mature olive trees and lavender bushes and grand décor, the hotel oozes Italian charm in a peaceful spot close to the shops, museums and galleries of the city.
Location
Although surrounded by the busy city of Pretoria, Castello Di Monte retains its peaceful atmosphere within a 3,842m2 estate in Waterkloof Ridge on a hilltop with sweeping views. It takes just a few minutes to walk to the restaurants and around 10 minutes to the galleries and museums. As well as plenty of cultural attractions and nightlife spots, Pretoria has a number of lush gardens to stroll through and nature reserves to visit.
Rooms
In keeping with its Mediterranean theme, the nine individually styled rooms are charmingly decorated with golden hues and period furniture, as well as modern amenities such as TV, Wi-fi and underfloor heating. En-suites have both bathtubs and showers.
Communal Areas
Reminiscent of a 16-century Tuscan villa, Castello Di Monte is elaborately furnished, and guests enter through a copper gated entrance to a space of warm tones, arched doorways and marble staircases. Lounge by the stone fireplace with classical paintings lining the walls. Dine in the elegant dining or retreat to one of the pretty terraces with their terracotta plant pots, landscaped gardens and outdoor pool area. There’s also a rooftop terrace from which to watch the sunset.
Activities
There are plenty of places to eat in Pretoria and its surrounding suburbs and guests will discover the first of the restaurants and bars just a few minutes walk from the hotel. Visit the Voortrekker Monument and climb to the top of its tower for views of the surrounding nature reserve. Take guided tours of The Freedom Park on top of Salvokop Hill to see The Wall of Names. Head out on hiking and biking trails and visit the many nature reserves surrounding the such as Wonderboom Nature Reserve with its 1,000-year-old fig tree and Austin Roberts Bird Sanctuary.

SUMMER
A beautiful time of year with plenty of sunshine and warm weather. The summer months are the wettest in the year, rainfall is however usually very short-lived arriving in the form of sharp afternoon thunderstorms.
Johannesburg is situated on the highveld plateau, and has a subtropical highland climate. The city enjoys a sunny climate, with the summer months (October to April) characterised by hot days followed by afternoon thundershowers and cool evenings, and the winter months (May to September) by dry, sunny days followed by cold nights.

AUTUMN
With more pleasant midday highs and generally clear conditions, this remains a fantastic time of year to visit South Africa. We would particularly recommend the Southern regions of South Africa (Western, Garden Route and Eastern Cape), KwaZulu-Natal, the Drakensburg Mountains. This period is also the perfect time to visit the Kalahari (the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park).
Of all the countries in Africa, South Africa is arguably the most climatically diverse; the beauty of this is that it is one destination which can be truly great throughout the year, you just need to know where to travel. With this in mind, we could suggest getting in touch to learn more.

WINTER
These are the driest months of the year, with barely any rainfall and blue skies dominating. Mornings are however cold, so worth packing warm clothes should you wish to take in any outdoor activities
