Location
The camp sits in a private concession on the eastern side of Matusadona National Park. Changa has exclusive access to almost 5km of the vast Lake Kariba’s coastline which stretches out in front of the camp. Both the lake and the national park are teeming with elephant, buffalo, hippo, crocodile and all of the big cats. An area relatively untouched by human activity, guests can enjoy a wild and immersive safari experience.
Rooms
There are eight chalets running along the shoreline and linked to the main area by winding wooden walkways. Floor-to-ceiling mesh windows allow light and breeze to stream through. The bedrooms have large double beds with views towards the lake and a little nook where a dressing table sits. From the main space, a wooden deck with camp chairs and a hammock await. En-suite bathrooms are decorated in mosaic patterns and local ornaments with twin basins, indoor and outdoor showers, bathtubs and complimentary toiletries.
Communal Areas
Situated among the trees, the split-level communal space houses two open-sided lounge areas, one indoor and one outdoor, flowing out to decks overlooking the beach. Interiors are classy and comfortable with inviting leather sofas, mosaic tiling and cane and linen furnishings. Enjoy drinks from the unique bar created from an old fishing boat, browse the small library for books and magazines or have a laid-back afternoon on loungers by the plunge pool.
Activities
Activities at Changa focus on game drives from the shore to the mountains and boat trips on Lake Kariba. Embark on stunning bush walks with experienced guides or go birding to discover over 350 species of birds. The lake is renowned as a fishing destination and guests can try their hand at catching the famed tigerfish or bream for dinner. Boat excursions to Sanyati Gorge are also available.
