The sensible choice when your itinerary puts you through Johannesburg overnight. Not a destination, not an experience, just a clean room and a short walk to the terminal. Ideal for onward flights where the alternative is a 45-minute transfer into the city for one night of sleep. It does exactly what it needs to do.
Location
OR Tambo International Airport sits east of Johannesburg in Kempton Park. The hotel connects to the international terminal via a covered pedestrian skybridge, no shuttle bus, no transfer, no luggage in a boot. For clients arriving on evening flights from Europe and connecting to Southern or East African destinations the following morning, the walkway is the entire value proposition.
The airport itself offers the usual retail and dining options landside and airside. There is no reason to leave the airport precinct, and we would not suggest doing so at night.
Rooms
Standard rooms are compact, quiet, and equipped with what matters: a comfortable bed, air conditioning, en-suite bathroom with shower, Wi-Fi, tea and coffee facilities, and a television. That is the full list, and it is the right list for a room you will occupy for roughly eight hours, most of them asleep.
Family rooms and interconnecting options are available for those travelling with children. Rooms facing the runway will pick up aircraft noise; light sleepers should request a room on the opposite side at check-in.
Communal Areas
A ground-floor restaurant serves buffet breakfast from early morning, timed for guests catching onward flights. The food is functional: eggs, toast, fruit, coffee. An adjacent bar offers light meals and drinks through the evening for those arriving late. There is a small pool in the courtyard, which exists and is technically swimmable, though ambition should be managed accordingly.
Activities
None. You are at an airport hotel. Sleep well, eat breakfast, walk to the terminal.

SUMMER
A beautiful time of year with plenty of sunshine and warm weather. The summer months are the wettest in the year, rainfall is however usually very short-lived arriving in the form of sharp afternoon thunderstorms.
Johannesburg is situated on the highveld plateau, and has a subtropical highland climate. The city enjoys a sunny climate, with the summer months (October to April) characterised by hot days followed by afternoon thundershowers and cool evenings, and the winter months (May to September) by dry, sunny days followed by cold nights.

AUTUMN
With more pleasant midday highs and generally clear conditions, this remains a fantastic time of year to visit South Africa. We would particularly recommend the Southern regions of South Africa (Western, Garden Route and Eastern Cape), KwaZulu-Natal, the Drakensburg Mountains. This period is also the perfect time to visit the Kalahari (the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park).
Of all the countries in Africa, South Africa is arguably the most climatically diverse; the beauty of this is that it is one destination which can be truly great throughout the year, you just need to know where to travel. With this in mind, we could suggest getting in touch to learn more.

WINTER
These are the driest months of the year, with barely any rainfall and blue skies dominating. Mornings are however cold, so worth packing warm clothes should you wish to take in any outdoor activities
