Kinondo Kwetu is a small lodge owned and run by a Swedish couple with a home from home atmosphere. With miles of beautiful white sands reaching out to the Indian Ocean, a wealth of water sports and plenty of privacy, Kinondo Kwetu is perfect for both winding down and re-energising or getting stuck into the many adventures on offer.

Location

The resort is situated on the secluded Galu Beach and on the south side of Diani Beach. Although the Diani coast is built up in places, Kinondo Kwetu sits in a remote location with no properties nearby and none allowed to build on the sacred land surrounding the property. It is classified as a ‘Kaya’ area and protected by the national museum due to being surrounded by holy forests.

Rooms

The property has 16 bright and stylish rooms, each with a chic African design and unique charm. Most of the rooms have a sea view and all are very close to the beach.

Communal Areas

The whole property is given a private, secluded atmosphere and is surrounded by trees and plants.  Set within a large house is a lounge and dining area, built in the traditional Swahili way with Arab lanterns and dark wood furnishings. The whitewashed walls are decorated with African art and the bar and lounge open up to a vast veranda beneath a thatched roof. A pool can be found at the back of the lodge surrounded by sunloungers with a smaller pool located near the beach.

Activities

Other than relaxing on the beach and doing nothing, water sports are a hot activity here. Diving for all levels is available as well as snorkelling, wakeboarding and windsurfing. The resort has its own riding stables so rides along the beach or in the forest are a must. Guests an also sail on one of the resort’s outriggers, explore the nearby Robinsson Sand island and take excursions to the local village. For keen tennis players, a hard court is available on site or for a spot of golf, try the Leisure Lodge Golf Club just 15 minutes away.

Health and well-being is a huge aspect of what Kinondo Kwetu aims to deliver. Spa treatments rejuvenate and re-energise and a secret sport on the cliffs is perfect for yoga and aerobic classes.

The height rainfall amounts can be expected during these periods, but showers and thunderstorms can happen throughout the year, with no distinct dry season.
