Kicheche Laikipia Camp is one of the most luxurious camps in the Ol Pejeta Conservancy. Kicheche Camp is a small, intimate property with excellent proximity and access to rich wildlife. Kicheche Laikipia Camp is one of few accommodations located in the wilderness part of Ol Pejeta Conservancy and with its strict limit on guest numbers, this calls for an exclusive safari experience. The camp overlooks a large watering-hole meaning guests don’t have to stray far for great wildlife viewing.
Rooms
The camp offers only six tents, raised on solid plinths with verandas looking out to the watering hole. The interiors are vast, with soft cream canvas walls and floors adorned in Persian rugs.
Communal Areas
Shaded by trees, the large main tent is homely and welcoming. There is a lounge area with big burnt-orange sofas, chunky coffee tables, bookshelves and fresh flowers. The dining area, with large wooden tables and cushioned seating has a fireplace for those cooler evening or guests can dine outside on the deck. When the canvas sides of the tent are elevated, guests can enjoy views of the dam lake in front of the lodge.Â
Activities
Game drives are available by morning, afternoon and evening as well as the opportunity for full day drives. Guests can also take part in Ol Pejeta’s lion-tracking programme and contribute to their research by finding and spending some time monitoring lions. A visit to the northern white rhino sanctuary, which is home to the last three of these animals in the world, is another must. For a tranquil afternoon, take a canoe out on the dam lake.
