Run by a couple, hailing from Kenya and Scotland, who live on the property with their two young children, the house exudes warmth and a friendly atmosphere amid an enviable location for game viewing.

On a seven acre plot of land on the Lewa conservancy, the house offers extensive views of the surrounding wilderness, with the Ol Olokwe mountains, Mount Kenya and the rocky Mathews range stretching out in each direction.Â
Rooms
The house offers two type of accommodation. Traditional Kenya-settler style family cottages accommodate up to four people with spacious verandas and rustic interiors. Cement floors are brightened with rugs and make for a homely, comfortable stay.
The unique ‘Earth Pods’ blend perfectly into the landscape with their curved stone roofs which resemble the dotted hills beyond. Inside, the space has a small living area, a beautifully large veranda looking out across the landscape and is designed with simple wooden furniture and polished wooden floors. The bathrooms are large, with walk-in showers and bathtubs, some of which are located out in the open air.
Communal Areas
The reception area of Lewa House includes a comfortable living room and terrace yet the dining room is the true heart of the house. An ideal location for relaxing after a day of activity, the space has a cosy log fire and a relaxed, homely atmosphere. The house also boasts its own fenced garden, abundant with fresh ingredients and a warm free-form swimming.
Activities
The main activities at the house are game drives and walking safaris and guests can take a game walk with Calum, one of the owners of the house who is a qualified trails guide. Horse back rides for awe-inspiring close-up encounters with wildlife are offered complimentary to those who stay 3 nights or more. Off the menu opportunities are available upon request for those staying long enough. Guests may get the chance to participate in the conservancy’s veterinary and management practises such as elephant darting.
