Pelican Point Lodge is a unique and remote lodge occupying a renovated Harbour Control Tower at the foot of Pelican Point Lighthouse. With uniquely decorated suites, brilliant wildlife viewing and spectacular views across the ocean and distant dunes, the lodge boasts an ideal spot to unwind and switch off from the outside world.
Location
32 km from Walvis Bay, the lodge sits on a remote peninsula of Pelican Point. With the Atlantic Ocean on one side and the Lagoon of Walvis Bay on the other, the lodge is surrounded by pristine beaches, the sound of crashing waves and little else. The renovated tower sits adjacent to the lighthouse which has been guiding ships into Walvis Bay Harbour since 1915.
Rooms
Nine suites are uniquely decorated and all offer incredible views from their private decks. The spacious interiors are decorated in warm browns and beige to contrast with the stark surroundings. Beds are covered in cosy blankets and there’s a small seating area with armchairs and pouffes backed by ocean-inspired artwork on the walls. The Captains Cove Suite is the most luxurious, sitting at the top of the control tower with panoramic views.
Communal Areas
The main area is warm and homely with a huge deck to watch for dolphins, seals and sunsets. Inside, there’s a lounge with plenty of space to sit back and relax with a drink or a book, and a dining area with soft lighting, warm wooden furnishings and elegant table settings. On colder nights, the lodge is surrounded by fog so the space is always equipped to contrast this with very cosy interiors.
Activities
The focus at the lodge is on complete relaxation so guests can take picnic hampers to explore the peninsula and dramatic coastline, enjoy sundowner drinks with views of the ocean or curl up with a book on the sofas in the inviting lounge. For something more up tempo, go kayaking with seals or quad biking across the dunes.
