Location
On the banks of the Selinda Spillway, the camp sits within the 130,000-hectare Selinda Reserve. Shaded by a riverine forest of ebony and mopane trees, the camp’s location was handpicked to provide the best of the bush’s wildlife. It sits within prime predator habitat with many lion, leopard and cheetah as well as a good density of buffalo and giraffe. During dry season, the reserve has been known to house up to 9,000 elephants and the birdlife on the banks of the Spillway is nothing short of phenomenal.
Rooms
The four tents are comfortable and stylish with a raw twist. Slightly raised from the ground, they offer two rooms with a bedroom, dressing room and en-suite bathroom. Campaign furniture throughout completes the classic safari atmosphere and guests can enjoy outdoor ‘bustani’ bathrooms under the trees and private verandas.
Communal Areas
The Bedouin-style main area houses a dining area and lounge with campaign-style furniture, recycled woods and soft furnishings hailing from Zanzibar. The bush kitchen provides three wholesome meals a day to be enjoyed around the fire or on soft cushions in the lounge.
Activities
The emphasis at camp is on walking and canoeing the spillway although game drives are offered both day and night. Take to the spillway on canoes with a fishing rod, cool off in the water or explore the reserve on foot with armed guides to discover the diverse wildlife surrounding Selinda Explorers Camp.

There are also two significant exceptions to the above rule of thumb; Kalahari Desert and the Makgadikgadi which come into their own during the wet season as wildlife moves in to take advantage of the fresh, lush grass.
Temperatures can be very high in and around the wet season; when the sunlight is at its strongest, however nights can be cool to sub-freezing throughout the year. So, don’t forget to pack warm clothing!
