Location
Situated with the Sorris Sorris Private Concession, the lodge overlooks the Ugab River and the Brandberg Mountains in Damaraland. This vast desert scenery is characterized by rugged mountains, ancient rock art and sunsets which cast golden light across the plains and numerous clusters of rocky red boulders. Desert-adapted elephants roam here, as do the rare black rhino although sightings of the latter are rare.
Rooms
Nine rooms sit in the rocky red boulders in unassuming structures which blend in the landscape. Each has a wonderful view towards the Ugab River and Brandberg Mountains beyond. Light and airy interiors are decorated with crisp white linens, pale woods, and soft blue furnishings. Beds are raised on wooden platforms and floor-to-ceiling windows lead to an outdoor terrace. Behind the bedrooms, en-suites boast open bathrooms with bathtubs set in heavy wooden frames and a second shower and bath on private outdoor patios for bathing with a view.
Communal Areas
The main area is stylish and fresh with light wooden furniture, pale-blue fabrics and large folding windows to a deck overlooking the plains. Comfortable seating is dotted through with a modern bar at the back of the space and tables for dining on the lodge’s inventive and exceptional food are spread throughout. Overhanging the rocks is a deck with a firepit for evening drinks under the vast desert skies or elephant spotting during the day. Activities
Take game drives through the dry Ugab River in search of rare black rhinos and desert-adapted elephants. Journey to the Brandberg Mountains for sundowners and an exploration of the areas rock paintings. Guests can also meet the local community who Sorris Sorris have a close relationship with. To see the desert from new heights, enjoy a champagne breakfast in a hot air balloon over the wild region.
