Xanadu Villas sits on Bwejuu Beach along Zanzibar’s Michamvi Peninsula, surrounded by tropical gardens. The Zanzibar archipelago, known as the Spice Islands, is rich in history and culture with a host of vibrant architecture and the palm-fringed beaches are close to a barrier reef making for excellent diving.

Rooms

Eight villas are each individually designed and compromising one or two bedrooms. With a nod to the island’s Arab history, the rooms are circular with dome-shaped roofs and arched windows which complement the African art and furnishings. Each villa has a kitchen, living rooms which open to private plunge pools and a dining area. Rooms are decorated in neutral, fresh tones with splashes of colour to keep the space bright. Some include individual features such as tall cathedral windows or rooftop plunge pools and the en-suites are huge with tall rain showers and Africology products. Rooms can be hired on an exclusive basis or individually.

Communal Areas

Although guests can enjoy in-villa dining, the bar and main dining area surround the swimming pool underneath a Makuti-thatched ceiling where Tanzanian dishes and freshly caught seafood are served. Stroll to the beach where two-person hammocks and loungers are set up and after a dip in the Indian Ocean, head to Xanadu Villa’s beachfront spa.

Activities

Stroll to the beachfront for scuba diving, kitesurfing, kayaking, spear fishing, dolphin tours and many more. Take a blue safari around Zanzibar, exploring its small desert islands and lunching on a seafood picnic. See the sun set over the ocean on dhow cruises, take historic walks through Stone Town or visit nearby spice farms.
