About Nomad Tanzania
Probably the leading high-end safari operator dedicated solely to Tanzania, Nomad Tanzania started life in the late 1990s and today operates a world-class selection of small luxury bush camps, fly camps and private camps in seven of the country’s most alluring protected areas.
Nomad’s specializes in fly-in safaris between its various camps. These all have in common a tranquil, remote location, and combine a down-to-earth bush feel with high levels of comfort and superb cuisine. They operate on an all-inclusive basis, with game drives and other activities being led by enthusiastic in-house naturalist-guides whose knowledge of the surrounding area is exceptional.
Nomad is the only operator to run upmarket camps and offer bespoke safaris in all three of Tanzania’s safari circuits, and it is thus possible to mix and match an itinerary taking in any combination of these.
On the northern circuit, Nomad operates permanent camps in the legendary Serengeti National Park, the sensational Ngorongoro Conservation Area and the underrated Tarangire National Park. It also operates a mobile camp that follows the world-famous annual wildebeest migration as it treks across the plains of the Serengeti.
On the southern circuit, Nomad boasts an idyllically located upmarket camp on the banks of the Rufiji River as it flows through the vast Nyerere National Park (formerly Selous Game Reserve), as well as a gorgeously rustic bush camp in Ruaha National Park.
Nomad is a leading operator when it comes to Tanzania’s fantastically remote western safari circuit. This circuit comprises the untrammelled savannah of Katavi National Park, as well as the jungles and beaches of Mahale Mountain National Park, which offers some of the best chimp tracking in Africa alongside the crystal-clear waters of the vast Lake Tanganyika.
Nomad is known for known for its loyal and engaged staff, many of whom have worked at one or another camp for longer than a decade. Its commitment to local communities and conservation in Tanzania is exemplified by the various healthcare, educational and environmental projects undertaken by the affiliated Nomad Trust.
