The Amakhala Bush Lodge is a five-star rustic accommodation located in the malaria-free Eastern Cape. With private viewing decks and plunge pools, rooms tucked beneath the trees and en-suites with huge bathtubs and outdoor showers, the property is a perfect spot to enjoy the game-rich Amakhala Game Reserve.
Location
The lodge is positioned in an open valley within Amakhala Game Reserve surrounded by rolling hills and lush vegetation. Situated around 45 minutes to Port Elizabeth on the northern end of the Garden Route, the 6,500 hectare reserve is Big Five territory making for rewarding game drives.
Rooms
The eight rooms at Amakhala Bush Lodge have thatched roofs, tented walls and wooden floors. Beds are draped in mosquito netting and a small lounge area with comfy red armchairs sits in front of the red drapes, which open to a private deck and plunge pool. En-suites have large oval bathtubs and double outdoor showers.
Communal Areas
The main space at Amakhala Bush Lodge is made up of a dining room, a spacious and comfortable lounge with views across the game-filled plains and an outdoor boma. Guests can enjoy drinks in the pub or on the deck by the outdoor fireplace.
Activities
Take safari drives through the Amakhala Game Reserve on a Big Five adventure. Guided by knowledgeable rangers, open cruisers will take you through the incredible landscapes to spot an abundance of wildlife. Take a boat cruise along the Bushman’s River or get a unique perspective of the reserve on horseback.
