A modern, boutique hotel on the white sands of Diani Beach, AfroChic is an intimate property in a gorgeous location with views all along the shore to the sparkling Indian Ocean. Part of the Elewana collection, the hotel retains a homely, eclectic atmosphere and is perfect for travellers seeking a smaller property on the shores of Diani.
Awarded: Bronze
Location
Located on the North side of Diani Beach and less than 100 yards from the shore, AfroChic is a pretty, European style property with white pillars, primrose yellow walls and large terraces.
Rooms
The eight ‘deluxe’ rooms are each uniquely styled and Swahili themed. Four-poster or rustic, wooden beds sit on smartly tiled floors and small rugs and local artwork decorate the walls. Some of the rooms open out to a balcony and each has a garden or ocean view.Â
Communal Areas
The ground floor of the hotel has a lounge and dining area. These spread out to the pool terrace with well-cushioned wicker furniture, glass-topped coffee tables, lounge-swings and plenty of sun loungers. The pool itself curves around the ample ground floor space and connects the house with the white sandy beach. The grounds of the hotel are filled with coconut palm trees and the views all the way down the beach are amazing.
Activities
Many water sports are available at AfroChic including kayaking, bodyboarding, windsurfing and paddleboarding. Guests can enjoy snorkelling excursions to some spectacular coral reef at Kisite Mpunguti Marine Park. Scuba diving is also on offer at the Diani Marine 5-star PADI dive centre with practise pools for training and two trips every day. For keen golfers, the scenic 18-hole championship course is only a 3-minute drive from the property.
