Location

The property is situated on Manda Island within the Lamu archipelago and 12km from Lamu airport. An exclusive alternative to the busy Kenya Coast, Manda Bay lies on an isolated tip of Manda island. It is a remote yet easily accessible beach property worth the small extra effort to reach.

Rooms

Manda Bay has 20 large bandas each with a perfect view straight out to sea. They are simple, spacious and coastal in style with palm-thatched roofs, woven matting floors, private verandas and large wooden framed beds.  Each room has an en-suite bathroom and guests can lie back and relax in a hammock to enjoy the 180° views.

Communal Areas

The main, open-sided lodge has a lounge, bar and shady dining terrace built into the edge of the 600-metre seawall that protects the property. At high-tide, waves lap all the way up to the bar, perfect for enjoying a cocktail with your toes in the water! A large and spacious reading room can be found upstairs with an ideal view of the bay and gardens and an infinity pool surrounded by hammocks and loungers offers yet more gorgeous views of the surrounding scenery.

Activities

Manda Bay offers a number of water sports to keep you occupied, including waterskiing, sailing, windsurfing, kite-surfing and fly-fishing. Ideal snorkelling spots around Manda Toto are a 15-20 minute boat ride from the lodge. Guests can also explore the fascinating nearby ruins of Manda town, a 9th to 13th century Swahili port which once had an estimated population of 3,000.
