Ruckomenchi is an adventurous and exquisitely comfortable camp on a private concession where leopards, lions, buffalo and elephant roam close by. This Wilderness Safari’s owned property situated on the banks of the Zambezi River offers stunning mountain views and intimate, peaceful wildlife viewing.

Location
The camp sits in its own private concession covering 40km2, divided by the Ruckomechi River and creeping into Mana Pools National Park and the Hurungwe Safari area. From grassland and scrubland to mopane woodland, the area is diverse and attracts a large concentration of game. The camp itself is surrounded by albida trees, a favourite for pods of elephants who visit camp regularly. While most of the activities take place in the concession, guests can arrange park excursions separately to explore further afield.
Rooms
12 tents are set either side of the main area, shaded by acacia and mahogany trees and set along the riverfront. The bright and spacious interiors are contemporary in design with hints of blue and cream for a fresh feel. The lounge area has soft linen sofas, a coffee table and a writing desk, and beds are draped in mosquito netting facing the veranda. En-suites have walk-in showers and huge mesh windows for views of the Zambezi River.
Communal Areas
The communal space is open sided and simply designed with neutral tones and a light, breezy atmosphere. The lounge offers leather sofas, armchairs and wooden furnishings throughout with a small library and a stocked bar. Dine on the large deck where lamplit tables and directors chairs are spread or in the indoor dining room for colder evenings. Close to the deck is a small infinity pool surrounded by loungers.
Activities
Game drives, walks and boating excursions are all done outside the park itself and within the private concession area. However, guests can explore beyond the concession by request and in advance to visit the game, forests and pools of Mana Pools National Park. A highlight of activities at Ruckomechi is that it’s the only camp along this stretch of the Zambezi to offer boat trips so guests can enjoy water-based game viewing, sunset cruises and fishing trips in peace.
