Camp Hwange is a warm, luxury camp in a private concession in the game-rich Hwange National Park. A classic safari camp with modern touches, Hwange provides outstanding guiding, flexible activities and rooms overlooking the wildlife that gather at the camp’s permanent waterhole.

Location
Set in the heart of Hwange National Park, the camp sits in front of a waterhole on a vast, open plain. Within the Camp Hwange Concession, guests can enjoy 50km2 of land exclusively and with relief from vehicle traffic. Hwange is Zimbabwe’s largest park and the camp lies in the northwest section where the Kalahari plains turn to rugged hills.
Rooms
Eight chalets overlook the waterhole at the front of the camp. Further views are enjoyed through large gauze windows and the interiors are simple and comfortable. Double or twin beds are curtained by mosquito nets, floors are covered in soft rugs and small lounge space offers a sofa, writing desk and tea and coffee station. For ideal sunrise views, the porch is set up with chair and a coffee table facing the waterhole. En-suites have large, walk-in showers, flush toilets and complimentary toiletries.
Communal Areas
The large, open-plan and open-sided main space offers yet more lovely vistas across the plains. The space is decorated in warm earthy tones and African-inspired artwork and furnishing which become very cosy during the evenings. Around the communal dining tables are sofas, chairs and a small bar. Wicker lampshades hang from the tall ceilings and sculptures and clay pots enhance the safari atmosphere. The heart of the camp is the firepit where guests gather for post-safari drinks or pre-dinner canapés and conversation.
Activities
Activities at camp are flexible and focus on game drive and walking safaris. There’s no pressure to return to camp at specific times, particularly if on an important sighting. In these cases, picnic lunches are delivered to the bush. Full day excursions are on offer for an exploration further afield. Guests can also combine vehicle and walking safaris for an exciting and up close wildlife experience.
