The sister property to Camp Hwange, the expedition-style Hwange Bush Camp is tucked away in the remote northern region of Hwange National Park. The camp may not have quite as many creature comforts as it sister Camp Hwange, yet for those seeking a pure and uncompromised safari adventure, it is hard to think of a better camp. Headed by some of Zimbabwe’s most talented safari guides, you could not be in better hands!
Location
This semi-permanent camp lies in the northern section of Hwange National Park, a remote and rugged area of hilly terrain, sweeping savanna and home to an abundance of wildlife from lion and leopard to buffalo and elephant. Hwange is Zimbabwe’s largest national park with one of the largest populations of elephants in the world and plenty of Gemsbok and brown hyena. The camp is also unfenced so expect to see wildlife wandering through the property.
Rooms
There are six Meru-style tents at Hwange Bush Camp, each enjoying the welcome shade of trees. True to its rustic atmosphere, rooms are simple yet comfortable with twin or double beds, solar-powered lighting and en-suites with bucket showers, mirrors and flush toilets. The tent extends to a shaded private veranda equipped with chairs and a table to watch the wildlife passing by.
Communal Areas
The simple main area of camp offers a lounge and dining room decorated with old-world and rustic furnishings, comfy sofas and plenty of colour to brighten up the space. Guests can dine on the long communal dining table or al fresco by the firepit with meals being prepared on the open wood-burning fire.
Activities
Guides at Hwange Bush Camp keep the days unique and flexible. Drives and walks take place in the early morning and late afternoons with both activities often combined. Spend time at the waterholes to watch the wildlife gather and go on the search for lion, leopard, elephant and buffalo. Spend the evenings gazing at the stars while guides tell stories around the campfire.
