With gorgeous views across the dunes and sea beyond, Strandloper Ocean Boutique Hotel is a privately owned property in the picturesque village of Paternoster. With its first-class location and tranquil atmosphere, the property is the perfect base for exploring the nearby West Coast National Park and surrounding reserve.
Location
The hotel is situated in the quiet fishing village of Paternoster along South Africa’s pristine West Coast. The village is best known for its Cape Lobster and the hotel sits just steps away from the long sandy beach and nature reserve. Cape Town is a 90-minute drive away and the West Coast National Park is just 60km away where there is a gorgeous display of Namaqua flowers during late summer.
Rooms
14 rooms and suites are decorated in a simple beach style with contemporary décor, an abundance of warm colours and locally made furniture throughout. The interiors are light and airy and each has sliding glass doors, which open out to private courtyards or terraces offering ocean and garden views. En-suites feature stone bathtubs, outdoor showers and handmade products. The Ocean Suites benefit from direct beach access and the Nature King Suites sit pretty on a dry riverbed and are the most spacious option with views inland.
Communal Areas
Relax in the light and breezy lounge area and dine at the Leeto Restaurant onsite where breakfast, lunch and dinner is served over a backdrop of ocean views. A pool and sundeck is the perfect spot for cooling off in the afternoon and for pampering, head to the Elements Wellness Suite where healing treatments are on offer.
Activities
Explore the beach right on the doorstep of the hotel for long walks and beautiful sunsets. Head out to the surrounding West Coast National Park, explore the West Coast Fossil Park or take to the hiking and biking trails on the reserve. Guests can also take kayaks to explore the penguin colony or go on boat cruises for whale and dolphin watching. Paternoster itself offers a number of art galleries, curio shops and craft markets to explore.
