Overlooking the open plains and a permanent waterhole, Davison’s Camp is simple accommodation spread beneath the shade of African rosewood trees. Set within a prolific game viewing area, guests can enjoy the comings and goings at the waterhole from the comfort of their private veranda after a day spent with exceptional guides out in the bush.
Location
Davison’s is situated within the private Linkwasha Concession, southeast of Hwange National Park, the largest in Zimbabwe. As the camp is built around a waterhole, guests don’t need to leave their rooms for wildlife viewing as elephant and antelope are daily visitors. However, Hwange has a wide range of plains animals and the reserve has over sixty waterholes so wildlife viewing and activities are rewarding.
Rooms
Nine tented chalets are simple and comfortable with twin or double beds looking out to the waterhole, ceiling fans for warm nights and concrete floors covered in rugs. A veranda with chairs and a table overlooks the waterhole and a wooden partition conceals the en-suites.
Communal Areas
The main area is an open-sided and airy V-shaped structure housing a lounge and bar with leather sofas and a dining room with long communal tables which spill out to the outside deck and campfire. On the roof is an open-air lounge providing elevated views of the waterhole and a prime place to enjoy a sundowner. The pool and surrounding loungers are situated on a pine deck which also has wonderful waterhole views.
Activities
When not enjoying views of the waterhole at camp, guests can take day and night game drives in the private concession and further afield in Hwange National Park. Take morning walking safaris with armed guides or visit a local village to tour the local school, meet the village head and learn about local culture
