Klein’s Camp resides on the rocky slopes of the Kuka Hills, bordering the Maasai Mara in the north and the Serengeti in the West. The camp leases the surrounding 10,000-hectare area exclusively from the Maasai, meaning guests at Klein’s Camp have the privilege of enjoying the outstanding woodland valley views of Loliondo and the Serengeti.
Rooms
Ten stone-and-thatch cottages make up Klein’s permanent camp, eight of which sleep a maximum of two guests. Accommodation is well-appointed, nicely proportioned, and private, with good en-suite facilities and a private veranda with great views across the reserve. With whitewashed walls and rich, hardwood floors, the interiors are calming and understated.
Communal Areas
This pared-back design continues into the communal areas, which include a lounge, dining area and bar, all housed in an open-sided timber, stone and thatch lodge offering scenic views of the natural landscape. Communal dinners are held in the upstairs dining room, or on your own private veranda, and guests can expect very high standards of both food and service. Beyond the lodge itself, the gardens contain a freshwater swimming pool fringed with sun-lounger chairs.
Activities
At Klein’s Camp, guests can take game drives accompanied by highly trained guides and game-trackers. Being located within a private concession, Klein’s Camp is able to offer walking safaris as well as morning and night drives. Safaris in and between August and November are highly recommended, as this is when the Great Migration takes place. Klein’s one drawback is that game viewing in the Loliondo reserve fails to match that of the Serengeti National Park, but this is otherwise a very impressive property.
When not embarking on safaris, guests can make use of the lodge’s in-room spa treatments and gym equipment, or simply relax by the pool.
