The hotel sits within a 30-acre working farm with views of the vineyards, mountains and plum orchards of the Franschhoek Valley. It’s just a 20-minute downhill walk to Franschhoek village or a 5-minute complimentary car ride away. Known as the ‘Culinary Capital of South Africa’, Franschhoek is a picturesque and charming village full of restaurants, galleries and shops.
Rooms
Each of the 11 very spacious rooms and five vineyard suites are individually designed with their own colour schemes and style. The decadent interiors are full of ornate antiques, rich fabrics, Persian rugs and colourful art adorning the walls. Bedrooms boast four-poster beds and each room opens onto a terrace where mountain views await. There are palatial en-suites, his-and-hers dressing rooms and widescreen TV’s in each grand space.
Communal Areas
The main lounge is a stylish space with plush sofas, armchairs and coffee tables. Enjoy meals in the elegant Great Hall where marble floors and huge fireplaces sit underneath impressive Indian chandeliers. For al fresco dining, the hall opens out to wide terraces surrounded by manicured gardens. Guests can enjoy a private library full of reading material and a home movie room for relaxed evenings. Activities
Stroll through the estate’s Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards with knowledgeable guides before sampling the goods. Take guided tours of the orchards and herb garden or explore the hiking and biking trails through the region. Guests can head out to Wemmers River for some trout-fishing or walk into Franschhoek Village to explore the curio shops, art galleries, museums and restaurants on offer. With a flora and fauna as biodiverse as the Western Cape it is no surprise that spring can be spectacular period to visit. Temperatures remain fairly cool, with a maximum average high of around 19°C/67°F, though the number of clear calm days is almost as high as the summer.

SUMMER / WET SEASON
This is the perfect time to visit the Southern part of South Africa (Western, Garden Route and Eastern Cape), with clear skies and warm weather dominating. It is also a good time to visit KwaZulu-Natal and the Drakensburg Mountains.
These months mark the wet season throughout the north of the country, where you can expect high temperatures and thunderstorms. So not ideal for safaris within these regions.
