Located just off the main road, Last Word Franschhoek is just a five minute walk into the village where artisan food, local wines and boutique shopping are in bounds. In this ‘french corner of the Cape’, guests can make the most of the hiking trails, scenery and wine tours of Franschhoek Valley.
Rooms
There are ten rooms at Last Word Franschhoek, consisting of eight Superior Doubles and two Pool Suites. Interiors are warm and sophisticated with neutral and cream colours, floral patterns and natural light filling the rooms. The under-floor heating is welcomed on cooler evenings and fresh flowers brighten up the space. The huge Pool Suites overlook the gardens with private terraces and plunge pools.
Communal Areas
The Mantis owned property has been restored in the Cape Huguenot tradition featuring classic furnishings throughout and homely spaces to lounge in. A wooden deck positioned around an old oak tree provides mountain views and guests can take breakfast on the courtyard patio, which sits in front of the swimming pool and gardens. For evening drinks and complimentary wine, head to the cosy bar and library.
Activities
Guests can explore the village as soon as they leave the hotel where galleries, restaurants, bars and boutique shops await. The Mont Rochelle Nature Reserve is a short drive away and the hotel offers free bike hire to cycle through the nearby villages and valleys. Explore the seaside town of Kommetjie with its many coffee shops and historic lighthouse or take cellar tours along the local wine routes.

SUMMER / WET SEASON
This is the perfect time to visit the Southern part of South Africa (Western, Garden Route and Eastern Cape), with clear skies and warm weather dominating. It is also a good time to visit KwaZulu-Natal and the Drakensburg Mountains.
These months mark the wet season throughout the north of the country, where you can expect high temperatures and thunderstorms. So not ideal for safaris within these regions.
