Camps Bay's most elegant beach house offers stylish rooms and a great location. It's set back a few blocks from the seasonal hustle and bustle of the sunset strip, and elevated enough for decent views, yet only a minute's stroll from the beach, restaurants and bars.
Location
The cheek-by-jowl restaurants and bars that line Camps Bay, the city’s most accessible beach, and the most convenient place to take in the Atlantic Seaboard’s spectacular sunsets, make this one of the most popular nightlife areas in Cape Town. This guest house, set a few blocks back, offers a more peaceful option than some of the other hotels in the area, though it feels more like a private house (which it is) than a hotel.

There are seven rooms to choose from: the two rooms with views of the sea are understandably the most popular; two mountain-facing (equally lovely, and a bit quieter, but the views are not as exceptional), one two-bedroom penthouse and two entry-level garden rooms. All feature Nespresso stations, televisions, air-conditioning, underfloor heating in the bathrooms and well-stocked complimentary minibars.
Communal Areas
One of South Africa’s top interior designers – Francois du Plessis – has put his stamp on Sea Five with a stimulating mix of cool blue Mediterranean colours and warm African earth tones. This is more like moving into an exclusive beach house than staying at a hotel, with a great lounge-bar area that leads to the generous deck and pool. There is always someone present to assist with queries, bookings or cocktails, and the small but attentive team offer a highly personal service, with lovely extras like a nightly turn down service – one of the reasons Sea Five has so many repeat guests.
