Chitwa Chitwa is a stylish, privately owned lodge on the shores of Sabi Sands largest lake. Originally a family retreat for the Brink family, the lodge is an oasis of calm, concealed by verdant indigenous trees and boasting an intimate, personal atmosphere.

Location
The lodge sits adjacent to Kruger National Park in the northern Sabi Sand Game Reserve. With its unfenced borders, wildlife roams freely between the reserve and the national park providing the same abundance of activities in a more exclusive atmosphere. As the camp overlooks one of the reserve’s largest lakes, guests can watch wildlife gather at the water from the spacious shaded deck.
Rooms
There are eight individually designed suites positioned around the waterhole and spaced apart for privacy. Each has private wooden decks and plunge pools overlooking the lake. There are four-poster beds, a large lounge area and huge windows to create a light-filled space. En-suites have both indoor and outdoor showers and large bathtubs. Families or groups travelling together can enjoy the Charlsy Suite which is made up of two rooms with an adjoining lounge.
Communal Areas
Blending a mix of European and African style, the main area of the camp is inviting and stylish with artwork by owner Maria Brink complementing the space. Enjoy lunch in the shade of knobthorn trees on the lounging deck and read up on local wildlife in the cosy library. Starlight meals are enjoyed in the fire-lit boma or by the dry riverbed and a sunset deck hosts a swimming pool with wildlife views.
Activities
Take morning or evening game drives which end with a sundowner in the bush. Embark on bush walks with passionate guides to track game and get an intimate view of the surrounding flora and fauna. Guests can also visit the renowned Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre and visit the local village of Dixie to learn of local life in the Sabi Sands. For a view from on high, take an early morning hot air balloon ride to see the wilderness from a unique perspective.
